Sven Schroeder
Bragg Centenary Chair in Engineering Applications of Synchrotron Radiation
University of Leeds
Sven is the CMAC spoke lead at the University of Leeds and CMAC Group Leader in the Research Complex at Harwell, on the UK Science and Innovation Campus. He and his team provide leadership in the development and application of advanced X-ray characterisation for process and product development, notably with instruments at the UK’s national synchrotron radiation source, Diamond, and at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). He is also a surface and interface analysis expert facilitating research with X-ray spectroscopy analysis in the versatile X-ray spectroscopy facility (VXSF) that was funded by the national Sir Henry Royce Institute.
Sven joined CMAC in 2016. Originally a Physical Chemist by training, he has, since taking up his first academic appointment in 2001, worked at the interface between Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, studying pharmaceutical and other organic materials with a view to establishing the molecular basis for their nucleation and crystallisation from solution, as well as structure/performance relationships governing their manufacture, processing and formulation.
