Iain Oswald
Reader in High Pressure Crystallography
University of Strathclyde
Iain is a Reader in Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences investigating the organic solid state under a variety of conditions of temperature and pressure. He main focus is using pressure to induce polymorphism in materials and investigate the potential for the recovery of these phases to ambient pressure.
Iain has a PhD in Chemical Crystallography from the University of Edinburgh under the guidance of Prof. Simon Parsons. He worked as a research associate on ID27 (high pressure beamline) at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility before moving back to Edinburgh to take up a position with Prof. Colin Pulham. He joined SIPBS in 2009 where he has held a position since. Notably, Iain was awarded an Early Career Fellowship in Manufacturing (2016-2021).
