Hikaru Jolliffe

Digital Manufacturing Research Engineer

University of Strathclyde

Hikaru is part of Crystallisation Screening DataFactory (CSDF) team – a project to develop a system for autonomously optimised experiments for crystallisation parameter generation.  With a background in modelling, Hikaru is focussing on the fundamental process models for crystallisation as well as the numerical methods and algorithms required for automated experiment optimisation. Hikaru also has research interests in Loss-in-Weight feeder modelling, characterising the extent of mixing in batch blenders, and tablet compaction.

After completing his PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh (topic: techno-economic evaluation of continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing flowsheets, supervisor: Dr Dimitrios I. Gerogiorgis) Hikaru joined CMAC in 2018 as a post-doc to support other projects and researchers with his modelling and coding knowledge. From 2019–2024 he joined the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre MMIC project, where he was the CMAC team lead modeller. In October 2024, Hikaru joined the CMAC CSDF team.
