Meet our Team: Morell Kerr
In continuation of our monthly “Meet our Team” post, we are celebrating CMAC’s Operational Coordinator and PA To the Directors, Morell Kerr.
During an awards ceremony hosted by Principal and Vice-Chancellor Sir Jim McDonald last year, Morell was recognised for her 40 years of service to the University.
Morell grew up in Clydebank, where her favourite subjects at school were Admin & Secretarial studies. As she was eager to pursue a career in that field, Morell joined the University as an Office Junior in the University Secretariat in 1982, working for the Academic Register. After moving to various positions within Central Administration of the University, her last position before joining CMAC was with the TIC Project Team.
Morell’s main roles within CMAC are Personal Assistant to the Hub Director, Industry Director and to support Senior Management, with her main duties including diary management, organising meetings and travel and overseeing the smooth running of Director-related activities. She also spends time supporting colleagues with HR matters including recruitment.
A typical day in the life of someone in her position can be hectic, as diary management and coordinating e-mail traffic consumes much of her time. Working with CMAC's Directors and Executive Team continues to be a passion of hers as she strives to see the organisation grow in the years to come.
Morell is an excellent asset to the CMAC team, who is always happy to support other colleagues whenever they need help. She said:
“I have had the privilege of seeing the University grow from strength to strength. Being a part of the TIC Project Team and seeing that through to completion, including the visit of HRH Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, has been a real highlight for me.
I work with a fab team in CMAC and know I have support of my colleagues if and when needed. I love working with the different personalities and learning from all the youngsters!”
Morell currently resides in Shotts with her family and her Jack Russell, Jake. She enjoys spending time with family and attending football games at Hampden Park to support Scotland's national football team. She has recently been watching programmes such as The Night Agent, MasterChef, Saving Lives in Leeds, and reading books such as The Beekeeper of Aleppo, Where the Crawdads Sing.
